Livingston Taylor, performer at the 2009 Mount Dora Music Festival

Livingston Taylor

Singer, songwriter, guitarist and folk music legend Livingston Taylor performs more than 100 concerts a year. This seasoned performer has gained a loyal fan following through his personality, warm stage presence, and songs rich in wordplay, depth, and humor. The recipient of the Boston Music Award for "Best Folk and Acoustic Artist," Livingston has also been recognized for his contributions to American culture at the Celebration of North Carolina Artists. He is also a friend and past presenter of the Reebok Human Rights Awards.

Born in Boston and raised in North Carolina, Livingston returned to Boston to finish high school and pursue a career in the music business. In 1970 his self-titled debut album was released, the first of more than a dozen albums. His first hit, Carolina Day, would set the tone for his intimate, laid-back musical style. Taylor's career includes the chart-topping hit I Will Be In Love With You as well as Going Around One More Time, a song covered later by his brother James Taylor. Livingston's playful tune Pajamas became a fan favorite, and was later adapted into a children's book by him and wife Maggie.

In the 1980's, Livingston hosted a nationally syndicated television show, This Week's Music and since 1989, he has taught at Boston's Berklee College of Music. His course 'Stage Performance Techniques' was the impetus for his latest book Stage Performance. Since 2000 Taylor has also been an Artist-in-Residence at Lowell House at Harvard University.
