2012 MOUNT DORA MUSIC FESTIVAL
Thanks a million to the great performers and dedicated attendees who came to the 2012 Mount Dora Music Festival. We trust you enjoyed your visit and the concerts presented. Most of all we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our volunteers, Silent Auction contributors, and dedicated sponsors who help make this four-day celebration of music event possible every year.
It was our 15th Anniversary and we celebrated with an array of impressive performers and programs, most of which were free to the public as our gift to the community. The sun and rain came and went, but fortunately we presented all of the scheduled programs (except for the last two outdoor concerts on Sunday afternoon) and we hope to reschedule the Mount Dora Bible Concert Band and Lake Concert Band for an appearance in 2013. A variety of concerts were held at the Lakeside Inn, First Presbyterian Church, W.T. Bland Library, Donnelly Park Pavilion and, of course, at our main stage at the Mount Dora Community Center.
We enjoyed meeting new friends including the Alter Eagles – The Definitive Tribute to the Eagles, Almost Elton John and the Rocket Band - A Salute to Sir Elton, The Gypsy Star Band, The Glazer Family, Connect 2, T. Scott Walker, and six-time Florida State fiddle champ Jonathan Hodge. On Friday we caught up with more old friends when the The Porchdogs and Watermelon Revolution returned to the Donnelly Park Stage. And on Saturday, Pickin' in the Park featured more new friends including the Foothills Bluegrass Band and Slip and the Spinouts, accompanied by the return of the Hindu Cowboys. We also enjoyed our second Shut Up and Sing KaraokeFest and we closed out the festivities Sunday at sundown with the Improv Drumming Circle.
It was great fun and we hope you will mark you calendars for the 2013 Mount Dora Music Festival to be held February 14 – 17th. We promise another great line-up of performers!
