Established in 2009, this annual music scholarship is awarded to two Central Florida students, grades 6th - 12th who demonstrate the finest qualities in music vocals or instrumentals.

Scholarship Applicant Requirements:

  1. Complete and sign scholarship application.
  2. Complete and sign parent release for media recording form.
  3. Be a current Central Florida full time student, in grades 6th through 12th only.
  4. Not have been found guilty of, or plead no contest to, a felony charge.
  5. Submit with completed application one reference from teacher in field of music study.
    • Reference can not be related to applicant.
  6. Mail scholarship application, parental media release form, reference, DVD or VHS and one original
    copy of music with edits (if required) to the following address:

Scholarship General Information:

  1. Completed scholarship application must be submitted to the Mount Dora Music Festival on or before
    April 5, 2010 to apply for the following year.
  2. The scholarship will be awarded by the May 3, 2010.
  3. Each scholarship is $250 and is to be used for music education, instrument or instruction only.
  4. The scholarship is not transferable to another person.
  5. The scholarship is awarded for one year at a time.
  6. Mount Dora Music Festival Board of Directors will appoint a panel of 3 scholarship judges.
    • Scholarship Panel made up of a Board of Director Member, a Music Professional and a Lay-Person
      or Sponsor.
  7. Judges may elect not to award all scholarships, or they may elect to vary or add scholarships.
  8. All decisions of the judges are final.

Scholarship Format:

  1. Four categories – Piano, Strings, Brass/Woodwinds and Voice.
  2. Participants may compete in only one category.
  3. Selections should be appropriate music for the instrument.
  4. Performance to be submitted in either DVD or VHS format and it is the responsilbity of participant that
    the judges will be able to view submission.
  5. Total performance time may not exceed 7 minutes. Participants are responsible for honoring the 7
    minute time limit, making appropriate edits where necessary.
  6. Participates must provide one original copy of music showing any edits.
  7. Participants must provide their own accompanist, if needed.
  8. Submitted DVD/VHS will not be returned.
  9. Judges or MDMF are not responsible for any DVD/VHS lost or damaged in the mail.
