Connect2
As an international award-winning tribute artist, entertainer Carlene Mitchell is a jazz and R&B vocalist recognized for her performances, musical direction, choreography, and productions. She has opened for such recording artists as Cuba Gooding, Sr., The Delphonics, and the trio of Ray, Goodman, and Brown. Her nationwide performances at showrooms, casinos, concerts, and nightclubs complement her numerous touring performances in musicals, films, and commercials.
Joining Carlene is musician and vocalist James Smith who has worked with Grammy-winning producer Frankie Biggz, recorded an album for Irene B (the first Spaniard performer to release an R&B album worldwide), and has played keyboards for the Time-Taxi Band and Bobby Hendricks of the Original Drifters.
When not appearing with a full cast in Carlene's Motown and Doo Wop shows, Mitchell and Smith create Connect2, where their soulful renditions are ..."The Only Way To Play".
Their library performance will celebrate Black History Month with "A Tribute to African-American Pioneers of Jazz and Soul Music". A historical look at the contributions African-Americans have made to both jazz and soul music, with tributes to the music of pioneers Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Sam Cooke, and Gladys Knight.
